How would things be on Smackdown if Edge had not retired?

He pretty much took that role as the top guy on Smackdown and gave someone a lucky chance to take that role like he did just because of an injury. It was even said that Alberto was supposed to win if he had not been injured, so Randy would've still maybe became World champion by defeating Alberto. Would things be more exciting on Smackdown if Edge would've never retired??
