Ipod touch won't go into dfu mode or recovery mode?

hi i have a 2nd generation ipod touch that won't go into DFU mode it just keeps going back to the lockscreen . when i try to put it in DFU it the appple logo comes on right away and i can't do anything ooh and by the way it is disabled it says connect to itunes
